Are you interested in doing something to help the environment? To raise awareness of the issues and support action to improve it?
The Environment Centre is at the forefront of collective action in Swansea. The role of Trustee is interesting and rewarding and our work has never been more urgent. It’s a fantastic time to join The Environment Centre Board ensuring that the charity is fully focused on the biggest challenges we face.
Our Board members are able to utilise their skills to make a real difference. We are actively seeking people with experience of youth engagement, volunteering or fundraising and those that are active in the local environmental network.
We understand the huge range of skills that people have to offer and how different experiences can benefit us, and are committed to supporting you in a welcoming and encouraging environment. We are keen to represent the amazing diversity of Swansea on our Board.
The Environment Centre is striving to improve the balance of representation on the Board and welcome applications from people from black, Asian and minority ethnic communities and people across all age ranges. We want to actively involve younger generations to develop and deliver our services.
The Environment Centre is a growing charity, we are adding more and more environmental projects, events and outreach to our portfolio, and we are looking for Trustees with the same level of ambition to help us grow.

About the organisation:
The Environment Centre is a community hub that has been championing environmental action in Swansea for 25 years. It aims to promote awareness of environmental challenges and to support people to make changes in their lives and to take action in their community.
Purpose of Role: To maintain a strategic overview of the Centre’s financial health and to report on this to the Board members on a voluntary regular basis.
Responsible to: The Board of Trustees/ Members of the Environment Centre
Responsible for: Ensuring the sound financial management of the Centre’s financial resources in conjunction with the Finance and Resources Manager.
When and where: The role requires a commitment of around 3 - 6 hours per month. Activity will take place at The Environment Centre as needed (e.g. financial reconciliation) and remotely or in person for the attendance of committee and Board meetings.

Energy Awareness Officer
£24,638 per annum/pro rata
35 hours per week. Occasional weekend and evening work will be necessary.
This role could be a job share arrangement.
Fixed until March 2027, with an option to extend depending on funding.
We’re looking for a helpful, pro-active, and communicative individual to take on the role of Energy Awareness Officer. Our ‘Switched On’ Energy Awareness Hub supports Swansea residents by providing information to the public, signposting practical support, and acting as a referral gateway to specialist services.
You’ll be very organised by confidentially recording interactions with the public and following up with recommendations, connecting with frontline staff from partner organisations throughout Swansea to reach those most in need of support, and monitoring our impact and reporting this monthly. This role will be suited to someone friendly and empathetic, with experience of engaging with the public and supporting with the resolution of queries. You’ll preferably have a good understanding of domestic energy efficiency and renewable technology or be committed to undertaking full training to be able to advise the public on these themes.
