Introduction to SCRAP
The SCRAP Partnership was formed in 2005 and is committed to working, in co-operation with others, in the public, private and voluntary sector, to promote effective sustainable waste management and recycling throughout Swansea.
SCRAP is not just waste material! In the case of Swansea Community Recycling Alliance Partnership it's about bringing together all organisations and individuals in the Swansea County who are involved in Waste management and Recycling.
The partnership seeks to promote sustainable waste management and recycling and has been established to bring together those already active in the field to serve as a 'Starter Nucleus' for the development subsequently of a Forum that represents the WHOLE of the recycling sector in the Swansea area. Members are asked to be as open and transparent as possible to engender real working relationships that truely benefit every resident of the City & County of Swansea. The Partnership itself is open and accessible to the whole community.
Through the medium of the recycling sector, the Partnership plans to contribute positively to the reduction in waste being currently directed toward disposal where this process with of course, have the potential to generate numerous other additional benefits for the Swansea Community (impacting as such on aspects of social well-being, employment, local ownership and self-worth, health, economic development, transportation, social opportunity, training and education, etc). Hence offering a contribution to the social regeneration of Swansea.
Below is a list of our current members. Click on the logo to visit their website.
BEN is established to promote equality of opportunity within the ethnic community in the preservation,
protection and development of the environment. We are a UK charity which promotes social inclusion through
working as a catalyst for change. While working to support ethnic communities we recognise that mainstream
organisations must also be supported to gain awareness and skills to provide information, resources and
services which are socially and culturally relevant to the needs defined by ethnic communities.
The City and County of Swansea provides a range of recycling services for the people of Swansea. These include kerbside collections of certain materials and Community Recycling Points for many more. Refer to www.swansea.gov.uk/recycling for a full description of what is provided.
